Should Deadpool and Wolverine have sequel movies?
According to an alleged Hollywood insider on X, Hugh Jackman is set to stay as Wolverine - even after the events of Avengers: Secret Wars. Jackman and Ryan Reynolds even want to make more Deadpool and Wolverine films together! Honestly, I’m not sure that I’m into that idea. The initial movie is easily breaking records and becoming a fan favorite because it’s hitting all the right callbacks for superhero fans who were watching Marvel movies in the mid 2000s. Marvel Studios can’t possibly ride that wave for too long - especially after all the cameos they’re going to use for Secret Wars. What do you think? Do Deadpool and Wolverine have enough material from the comics? What’s your take?

Is a Family Guy movie something you want to see?
Films based on irreverent adult-animated sitcoms are not unheard of and can be very lucrative endeavors. South Park capitalized on its own success early on in the series run with Bigger, Longer & Uncut, which today remains a beloved franchise offering among fans. The Simpsons movie was even more successful, and that came out during a time when people were starting to think the yellow family had nothing new or exciting left to offer viewers. Family Guy, admittedly, has one cinematic disadvantage compared to those other two shows; despite all three being thoroughly absurd, The Simpsons and South Park tend to focus around plot-heavy endeavors. Family Guy is known for just the opposite - its hardest-hitting moments often have nothing at all to do with the episodes they're placed in. This could make a feature-length version of the show difficult. There was a straight-to-video released in the mid-2000s to some degree of success - this movie was eventually split into three separate episodes a

If a remake of Die Hard was made, who would play John McClane?
Whether it’s on streaming or in the theaters, every old school 90s franchise seems to be getting yet another chance in the spotlight these days. Bad Boys, Twisters, Beverly Hills Cop (latest one was in ‘94), Aliens (3 was in 1992), Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter’s Dead, Road House (off by a year) and so on and so forth. Suffice to say, I don’t think the nostalgic do-overs are going to stop anytime soon. With that being said though, the one franchise Hollywood hasn’t seemed to touch yet is Bruce Willis’ beloved action movie - Die Hard. It is such a shame that dementia has overtaken the actor and I hope he battles the disease with unrelenting bravery. If 20th Century Fox decides to make a modern adaptation in honor of Willis someday, who do you see playing tough and stubborn McClane? Without hesitation, I could see Taron Egerton getting the part since he did so well with the Kingman roles back in 2015 and 2017. What do you think?

I like Art The Clown as a horror movie villain but I’m not sitting through two hours of extreme body horror.
Yes, I know - some people can sit through two hours of extreme desensitization - God bless them. But I and many others (as seen by reactions from the movie) are just plainly grossed out and nauseated by what Art does to his victims. It’s not like I haven't seen some scenes either. The bedroom sequence from the second entry was enough for me. Slasher films are one thing - but this goes above and beyond the gruesomeness and brings the genre to another level. As seen by reporter James Melzer right here on Movieweb, Terrifier 3 is the highest grossing unrated movie ever made domestically. But just as many people are seeing it in theaters, I’m wondering if this will cause more desensitization to society than there already is.

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim is being released in theaters? Oh no.
I'm probably going to be ripped to shreds for this by some LOTR fans, but the fact blew right past me that The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim is being released into movie theaters. Seeing the poster or some screenshots in various places on the internet always led me to believe it was a Netflix special - as the same animation special can be seen in the Castlevania anime. I was even thinking that it was a Prime Video release - Vox Machina looks similar. Being a casual Lord of the Rings fan, nothing about this reminds me of the franchise. Looks more like a stand-alone medieval tale - it might have been better off that way.Let me know your opinion on this. The War of the Rohirrim is not going to have a fun time at the box office, I can tell you that.

Why was Happy Days so popular?
As much as I liked to watch Happy Days with my parents when I was much younger, I think about the sitcom these days and I don't get how it remained popular for so long. Even though the show came out in '74, it had the feel (jukeboxes, diners, slicked back hair) of the the 1950s and 1960s. As much as the Fonz is a timeless archetype of a character, the cheesiness of his demeanor makes me cringe when I see it now. Let's not forget about the literal jumping-the-shark episode - something like that would instantly kill a show these days. Was it the nostalgia in the 70s for a life that was present in the 50s? Someone explain it to me.

Goosebumps and David Scwhimmer. I never needed this so much.
Don’t ask me why it’s premiering in January and not this month, but the latest on-screen iteration of R. L Stine’s book series called Goosebumps: The Vanishing seems to have some well-planted seeds. Besides that weak attempt at clever foreshadowing, this brand-new second season on Disney Plus will feature actor David Schwimmer in the lead role of all people in a story that seems to mix the tales of Monster Blood and Stay Out of the Basement. I’m always a sucker for these weird and underrated mashups. I will surely be tuning in when it hits the platform. Will you?

Uma Thurman says that Batman and Robin was made for children. Does that surprise you?
Uma Thurman was just recently a guest on the Kelly Clarkson show and let out a declaration that 1997's Batman and Robin was "actually made" for children. Maybe the professionalism she had towards her role (Poison Ivy) elevated the movie in her eyes or the fact that it was one of the most heavily marketed movies of the late 90s. But I always considered it to be a movie for younger audiences and never a film that leaned more so for adults. Cartoonish, bright colors, over-the top sequences, wacky - was there ever any doubt that Batman and Robin was something else?People Magazine calls it a shocking statement. Haha.

Did Zoe Saldaña do a good job as Gamora in The Guardians of The Galaxy?
While going through a game of Know Your Lines with Variety, actress Zoe Saldaña said that she didn't like - even regretted - how she performed as Gamora in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. She thought that her performance regarding a daughter who is having issues with her dad was not as good as it needed to be, essentially. In my opinion, she conveyed that aspect of Gamora decently enough . . . while balancing the fact that they were trying to save the Earth at the same time! It just can't always be about family dynamics. Plus Karen Gillan's Nebula had that all covered. When I think of her character in those Avengers movies, the troubled father/daughter dynamic swings right into view with all that torturing and deception. In your opinion, do you thinkSaldaña did well when stepping into the role of Gamora? Let me know!

Can Sebastian Stan work as a Batman villain?
Sebastian Stan is a “stan” for the Riddler. Bad joke, I know. But it’s true! In a recent interview with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actor declared that he has a soft spot for the Batman villain and would love to play the character if given the chance. He does admit that while he wants to, the dream has been dashed as the role has already been taken. But I’m not sure if I see The Winter Soldier star as a villain. Sure, he can rock that in-betweener, anti-hero makeup, play an off-centered cannibalistic boyfriend and an abusive rock star, but can he get really twisted and play a deranged, sadistic opposite to Batman? I surely wouldn’t want him in anything too comic-book campy, that’s for sure.

Wait, why is Alien Romulus getting a VHS release in 2024?
I never thought movies would go the same way as music. For a good number of years now, modern day pop stars have been releasing their music on vinyl records. This is a stark contrast when compared to digital downloads, mp3s and all of that. Well, it seems like Alien Romulus (of all movies!) is following suit in the movie realm by coming out not only on DVD, Blu-ray and digital, but also on VHS. What? Why? I know VHS can be super nostalgic for some, but being a VHS baby myself (I had a whole multi-layered rack dedicated to this form of media), they’re cumbersome and just take up a lot of room. The announcement from director Fede Alvarez got me shrugging my shoulders more than anything else. What’s your take on this bizarre marketing angle?

Where did the $40 million dollar budget for Agatha All Along go? I don't understand.
Maybe they paid it out to the cast? That has to be the answer. The Witch’s road is made with a fog machine and some Party City props. For about two to three episodes now, the antagonist is a house with a timer. The Salem Seven are defined by dark robes and some makeup. I’m all for the expanded Marvel lore and all (MCU fan until the day I die) but I do not get forty million dollars for the budget. It might be the lowest live action series to date for the studio, but I still don’t know why it’s that high. All I’m saying is that there better be some crazy CGI spell fest at the end.We can't forget about the broom scenes that look like they were ripped out of the old Disney Channel movie Halloweentown (The first one. From 1998.)

Fight Club is 25 years old. What’s your favorite scene in this David Fincher film?
Wait, we don’t talk about Fight Club. . . . but MovieWeb is an exception to that rule. We talk about all things movie here! Starring Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden and Edward Norton as the “unreliable” narrator, David Fincher’s dark drama turns 25 years old this year. Between the lesson in the form of a chemical burn, the bathroom scene with Tyler in the bath or that catalytic ending, what is your favorite scene? For me, it has to be “What do you want me to do? You just want me to hit you?”

There is a ‘View-Master’ movie in the works. Will it be successful or full of gimmick garbage?
Barbie opened up the floodgates and now Mattel thinks they can attach any toy to a movie. Matchbox Cars, Polly Pocket, Uno, Hot Wheels and now View-Master. The big and red elongated stereoscopes that show your favorite franchises in a sort of 3-D. But a live action movie based off of this? It’s obviously going to involve some younger characters being sucked into multiple worlds and having to fight their way out and with some emotional arc to boot. But just like the toy, I feel like it’s going to be a carousel of advertisements disguised as a novelty gimmick in movie form. Am I wrong? Oh, and Jack Black is probably going to be in it. Just kidding. . . but I do feel bad for him right now.

She’s got to be kidding - Julie Bowen definitely had her funny moments in Modern Family!
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, actress Julie Bowen (who played Claire Dunphy on the long-running ABC sitcom) said that she didn’t think she was funny enough for the show. Let’s be honest here - she definitely wasn’t the most comedic, but the punchlines or visual humor that she did provide definitely helped the show rather than hurt it. She wasn’t my favorite character either - that would go to Eric Stonestreet, who played her brother’s husband, Cameron Tucker. He stole the show with every episode that he was in. I’m curious to hear - who was your favorite character in Modern Family?

Would Art The Clown make a good Batman villain?
You can’t deny that Art The Clown would bring a sense of violence unseen to the world of Gotham. It really doesn’t matter if the modern-age horror movie icon goes up against Robert Pattinson’s The Batman, James Gunn’s uncasted version or any of the past iterations, the demon killer mime would certainly become the top villain in no time. But does he mesh well with the tone of Batman lore? The caped crusader has fought Aliens, Predator and Spawn for crying out loud, so he has had his fair share of otherworldly horror-centric beings - but does Art’s bloodlust one step too far? Let’s talk about this and figure it out.

Coraline is being replayed in theaters all the time. Why can’t they just make a sequel already?
It seems like around every Halloween season or so (any other spooky time), Coraline receives honorable treatment and is re-released into theaters. Variety reports that this time around - the stop-motion animated horror movie will also be available in 3-D! While that’s good and all, why can't they go ahead and make some sort of sequel? The director says he’s making a spiritual successor, but given the fact that people talk about this movie’s style and tone fifteen years later, it really says something, don’t ya think? Plus, they don’t have to worry about recasting - they can start off the second story right where the last one ended off if they so wish.

Did Ice Age: The End break anyone else or just me?
After successfully creating five iconic movies in the Ice Age Franchise (and other animated films), Blue Sky Studios was closed down by Disney in April 2021. Before shutting down, though, the team secretly created a final project to honor its most beloved mascot: Scrat. With no distractions, prehistoric predators or trouble around, he finally gets the Acorn! Yes, you could say these movies are for kids and an adult shouldn’t be bothered by such trivial things, but seeing a character with such a simple goal finally get his wish after all these years admittedly kind of broke me when I first watched it. Combine that with the fact that this was Blue Sky’s send off, and I was teary-eyed . . . I’m not going to lie. If you were a fan of the Ice Age franchise, did you see it? What did you think? Let me know in the comments.

I used to be one of the most hyped for Armor Wars. Now? Just cancel it.
All the way back in December 2020 (this is even before the pandemic just for a reference of time), Armor Wars was announced. Don Cheadle as James Rhodes comes back in as War Machine and gets right into the war between feuding factions who want the remnants of the Iron Man armor tech. But Mr. After switching from a Disney Plus show to a feature film and Mr. Cheadle himself pretty much throwing the project into developmental limbo, my excitement has ceased to exist. His role in Secret Invasion didn’t do his character any favors either. Just cancel it now and focus on what your game plan is for Secret Wars. You don’t even need War Machine for Secret Wars - you know that betrayed friendship dynamic is going to Holland.

Controversy aside, I think Lt. Dan (who survived Hurricane Helene and Milton in a sailboat) should get his own movie.
Two massive hurricanes - and this man decides to ride both of them out in his two by four sailboat out in Tampa Bay. Tied to one of the thinnest logs in the dock, Lt. Dan and his 20 ft. sailboat made it through the storms with the man himself saying that however high the waves were, his boat would stay above them. While his daughter seems to be against his rise to fame on TikTok, his story is definitely one for the books. Hollywood can surely make a movie out of him. Do you agree?
